How to reach / Access / Getting there - Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple
Mukteshwar Mahadev temple is very well connected by road to nearby state Jammu and kashmir, Himachal Pradesh. It is just 22 km away from Pathankot, one can easily reach here by road. The Ranjit Sagar Dam Hydroelectric Project is just 2 km from here. The left bank of river falls in the Punjab State and the Right Bank in Jammu and kashmir State, so the view of the river Ravi and hills is awesome. This Historical temple is situated in village doongh, on the elbow of Ravi river, which comes right after Thara Jhikla (as per Google Map).
On reaching Pathankot or direct at Shahpur Kandi, get the bus towards Jugial to Dam road towards Dam. There is an engineering college which comes in the way of Muteshwar Mahadev Temple. After passing by Tawi Engineering College keep an eye on a small road towards your left which will take you to the destination.
Attention:- There are lots of stairs to climb on the return from Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple.
By Road:The Pathankot bus stand is known as the Maharana Pratap Inter State Bus Terminal is located just very close to the National Highway 20 that is at a distance of 3 km from the city. Himachal Roadways, Jammu and Kashmir Roadways, Punjab Roadways and PUNBUS have bus services for interstate regions and the inter city of Punjab. Regular busses from Delhi, Ludhiana, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh ply from Pathankot. You can take bus for jugial to visit the holy mukteshwar shrine.
By Rail:There are two railway stations in Pathankot: The Pathankot Cantt (Chakki Bank Railay Station) which is right in the heart of the city and the Pathankot railway station which is very close (at walking distance) to Pathankot Bus Stand. Both the stations are connected to the broad gauge lines and are managed by the northern railways. Regular trains from Jammu, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Delhi and Ludhiana ply from these two stations.
